Someone once said that being a journalist is like having a front row seat to history. Well, I've been sitting in that seat for more than 15 years and I want to share the view with you. Front Row will keep you informed of what's really going on in your community and across the nation. Send news tips, pictures, or videos to michellemccalope@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you!

Jazz Fest Attracts Big Crowd
Residents brought their comfy chairs and enjoyed some great music on a beautiful, breezy afternoon in downtown Beaumont Saturday. Hundreds of people attended the annual Jazz and Blues Fest which was held in the parking lot next to the Jefferson Theatre. All of the performers were great--Stephen Richard,Joe Carmouche, Barbara Lynn, and Dr. Jimmy Simmons. And the setup was great too. There were two stages on opposite ends of the parking lot so when one act finished all you had to do was turn your chair around to catch the next one. Great idea! Kudos to the city of Beaumont which sponsored the festival for a job well done. Looking forward to next year! Those attending included Mayor Becky Ames, Councilman Audwin Samuel, Councilman Jamie Smith, Pat Avery, Larry Huggins, Phyllis Geans, Tanya Tanner, Van Greer, Jackie Simien and Cedric Joseph, Jazzy Red, Contessa Dixon, Greg Fontenot, Amanda Dixon, George Ned, and Dean James.
