Someone once said that being a journalist is like having a front row seat to history. Well, I've been sitting in that seat for more than 15 years and I want to share the view with you. Front Row will keep you informed of what's really going on in your community and across the nation. Send news tips, pictures, or videos to michellemccalope@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you!

"Hey Y'all"
Food Network Star Paula Deen isn't from Texas, but she shares a special connection to 'Texas Girls.' "Y'all love cast iron and we love our hairdos close to Jesus," said Deen as she laughed and the whole audience laughed with her. Deen was the keynote speaker at the Christus St. Elizabeth Live Well Women's conference. The conference which featured all-day workshops on health, wealth, and emotional well being was held at the Beaumont Civic Center. More than 1,300 people attended the sold-out event. Deen was accompanied by her husband Michael Groover. Deen cried as she talked about her journey from a struggling, divorced mother of two to a successful restaurateur and best-selling author. "Just 20 years ago, the only emotion I felt was hopelessness," she said. Now she's giving hope to others. She signed books and took questions from the audience. Attendees included Denita Babino, Veronica Matthews, Sherri Hardin, Vivian Pieternelle, Sandra Henson, Ivory Harrison, and Mayor Becky Ames.
