Exygon Health and Fitness Club (the fusion of exercise and oxygen) held its open house on Sunday. The new health club is located in what was formerly Ashley's Furniture at Dowlen and Phelan Blvd in the Westmont Shopping Center in Beaumont. It is scheduled to open in January. The 36,000 square foot facility will include a children's area with a gaming system and theater, more than 70 pieces of state-of-the art fitness equipment, two big group fitness rooms, a women's-only workout area, and a 40-yard track. The owners, Mike and Eldon Albanese (Eldon is shown in top photo)who also own the Westmont Shopping Center have operated Exgyon in Nederland for more than 16 years. This will be their second location.
"Our goal is to bring this part of the West end alive and it's happening as we speak," General Manager Tyler Briggs (in fourth photo) tells FRONT ROW. Briggs says since the health club moved into the location in August, it has spurred economic development in the area. In anticipation of the club's opening, the shopping center is now 100 percent leased out.
The addition of another healthclub is good news for residents. It means more competition and that always means good deals for consumers so take advantage of them. I visited the facility this weekend and from what I see it's going to be very nice.
