Someone once said that being a journalist is like having a front row seat to history. Well, I've been sitting in that seat for more than 15 years and I want to share the view with you. Front Row will keep you informed of what's really going on in your community and across the nation. Send news tips, pictures, or videos to michellemccalope@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you!

Community Block Party a Huge Success
Everyone enjoyed the Community Block Party at the L.L. Melton YMCA on Saturday. The event was hosted by Councilman Jamie Smith and Cheryl Guidry. The purpose was to bring the community together and give the kids a good back-to-school sendoff. There was music (the Jazz Innovators performed), lots of food from fried fish to links, games for the kids and swimming and various vendors booths with good information on nutrition and health. Those attending included County Clerk Carolyn Guidry, Judge Paul Brown, Judge Duce Jones, Councilman Audwin Samuel, Yolanda Avery, Tamika Humprey, Calvin Rice, Charles Maul, and Joe Stevens. Congrats to Jamie and Cheryl for a wonderful event!
