Someone once said that being a journalist is like having a front row seat to history. Well, I've been sitting in that seat for more than 15 years and I want to share the view with you. Front Row will keep you informed of what's really going on in your community and across the nation. Send news tips, pictures, or videos to michellemccalope@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you!

Apartment fire destroys 24 units
Some residents at Settler's Cove apartments in Beaumont are trying to put the pieces of their lives back together after a fire destroyed their homes. The residents were awakened by a fire early Sunday morning. The fire quickly spread and when it was over 24 apartments were destroyed. No one was hurt, but unfortunately some animals died in the fire. Most of the residents like Michaelyn Ballentine did not have renter's insurance. Ballentine was on her way home from a vacation in Florida when she received a call from her apartment manager. "I freaked out," she tells FRONT ROW. She was one of several residents standing outside some of the boarded-up apartments trying to come up with a plan. A Beaumont police officer was trying to get the American Red Cross number so residents could call for assistance. If you'd like to help, call the apartment complex. I'm sure they will be glad to hear from you.
