SETX Mavericks News Release:
The Southeast Texas Mavericks have decided to postpone and move the Coach Bob Knight Dinner until after the season. Coach Knight will be featured at the Mavericks Awards Dinner in April of 2010 that will conclude the SETX Mavericks 2009-10 season.
Mavericks General Manager/Head Coach Steve Tucker felt the timing was not right to bring in Coach Knight at this time. “There were several things conflicting with the dinner, such as the Cardinals of Lamar were tipping off their season at home on Monday, November 16th and with the ABA Tip-Off Classic coming later in the week we just thought it would be best for Mavs Fans and all basketball fans to have the opportunity to come out and enjoy top caliber basketball later in the week. Having a Legend like Coach Bob Knight come to Beaumont and Golden Triangle area is very special and we wanted everyone to have a chance to hear Coach Knight speak.”
The SETX Mavericks are scheduled to tip-off the 2009-10 season on November 19-21 at the Ford Arena in Beaumont by hosting the ABA Tip-Off Classic.
The Mavericks will be in action this Saturday night in an Exhibition Game at Ford Arena. The exhibition game is free and open to the public.
