Someone once said that being a journalist is like having a front row seat to history. Well, I've been sitting in that seat for more than 15 years and I want to share the view with you. Front Row will keep you informed of what's really going on in your community and across the nation. Send news tips, pictures, or videos to michellemccalope@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you!

Alumni Mixer
Alumni from Southern University, Prairie View, Huston-Tillotson, Grambling State, Jackson State and Stillman College represented their schools at the Black College Alumni Networking Mixer Friday at the MCM Elegante in Beaumont. More than 30 people mixed and mingled as they enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, meeting new friends and catching up with old friends. Some wore their school colors and of course there was a lot of competitive bragging (all in good fun). The purpose of the mixer is to help increase membership and fundraising in the various organizations by joining forces. The goal is to form a Black College Alliance with representatives from the various schools who can share ideas and resources and support each other's events. Those attending included Gloria Harrison, Gloria Cobb, Brenda Reynolds, Carl Collins, Calvin Rice, Rapheal Searight, Barbara White, Nicole Murray, Luther Martin, Mattie Jones, Beverly Miller, Carolyn Legginton, Sheila Williams, Wayne Daniels, Richard Barnes, Arthur Thompson, and Pat White. If you'd like to participate, send an email to gtjags@yahoo.com or call (409)892-2383.
