Someone once said that being a journalist is like having a front row seat to history. Well, I've been sitting in that seat for more than 15 years and I want to share the view with you. Front Row will keep you informed of what's really going on in your community and across the nation. Send news tips, pictures, or videos to michellemccalope@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you!

School pride on display at HBCU Alumni Party
More than 100 alumni members participated in the HBCU Alumni Association Christmas Party. The party was held Friday at the Appomattox Club in Beaumont. It was attended by alums from Southern, Prairie View, Grambling, TSU, Huston-Tillotson, Howard, Arkansas Pine Bluff, and Lamar University (even though it's not an HBCU) as well as family members and friends. Attendees decorated their table to show their school pride. Everyone enjoyed the music (the DJ was great) and the comraderie. The Historically Black College and Universities' (HBCU) Alumni Association in Beaumont is made up of graduates from various Black colleges. The goal is to help support the alumni organizations, increase awareness, and raise money for scholarships. For more information, call (832) 428-3461.
