Someone once said that being a journalist is like having a front row seat to history. Well, I've been sitting in that seat for more than 15 years and I want to share the view with you. Front Row will keep you informed of what's really going on in your community and across the nation. Send news tips, pictures, or videos to michellemccalope@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you!

Top Ladies Honor Women of Status
The Oran-Je Chapter of the Top Ladies of Distinction held their Status of Women Recognition Banquet Saturday at the Joe Ware Plaza. I was honored to be the emcee of the event which recognized women who are making a difference in their communities. The women represented education, business, and medical professions. The honorees included Bettie J. Curtis, Evera Enard, Suzzonne Crockett, Dr. Carol McCall, Marcia DeLarue, Ebony Mitchell, Beverly Robinson, Wilhelmenia Wills, Linda Smith, Ava Gail Joubert, Delores Warnell, and Deborah Mitchell.
It was a wonderful event that included a keynote speech by Port Arthur Mayor Deloris Prince, wonderful food, and of course dynamic women. Congratulations to all of the honorees, President Dorothy Brandon and Chairperson Willie Mae Champine.
